Bull Run Community Gathering

02/18/2024 - BRWA is organizing a community gathering to discuss water quality concerns in the Bull Run watershed. Residents of the Adrian community are invited to come to the potluck dinner to share their perspectives on water issues. BRWA will also present their septic tank pumping reimbursement program, as well as their funding for a feasibility study to implement a long-term solution to improve water quality. We hope residents will partake in this gathering and share their thoughts. We are looking forward to meeting and speaking with you!

Buckhannon River Photo Contest Returns

11/29/2023 - BRWA is hosting another Buckhannon River Photo Contest after many years. The contest is open to anyone with a camera. The goal is to promote the scenic beauty of the Buckhannon River. The first place photo will be added to the front page of the 2023 BRWA Newsletter. THe BRWA is extremely grateful to participants of the contest. A picture truly is worth 1,000 words.

River Trash Cleanup Event

09/29/2023 - Volunteers gathered on a beautiful September day to partake in a trash clean up. Efforts focused on removing debris from River Road and from the Buckhannon River. In total, volunteers removed 1,500 pounds of trash including three toilets and large furniture items. We express our sincere gratitude for our volunteer efforts.

Winter Hike Series

12/11/2023 - BRWA invites the community to partake in a Winter Hike Series co-organized by Upshur County Trails and BRWA. The Winter Hike Series includes four hikes on the second Saturday of the month from December to March. We will meet at 10 AM at the first trailhead on the road up to the Buckhannon-Upshur High School. Each hike will be between 1.5-3 miles with options to add or subtract distance. Over the course of the series, hikers will complete the entire 9-mile trail system at the Upshur County Recreational Park. This event is sponsored by Active SWV and Try This WV.

Halloween Paddle

10/22/2023 - The Buckhannon River Paddlers plans to host a Halloween Paddle. This event is FREE to the public and kayaks will be available for those that don’t have their own boats. Community members are encouraged to dress in a paddle friendly costume and partake in this fun float to showcase the unique opportunities for recreation on the Buckhannon River.

RiverFest 2023

06/27/2023 - BRWA is planning for the 7th Annual Buckhannon RiverFest. This annual celebration of water and community takes place in Buckhannon Riverwalk Park and is FREE for the public to attend. This year there will be free kayaks available to use thanks to a generous grant from Try This WV.
